The EFE Podcast
... is now available for you to generate, whenever and wherever you are:
We've seen incredible excitement around Audio Overview in NotebookLM, which helps people make sense of complex information. Today, we're making Audio Overview available in Gemini.
Audio Overview transforms your documents, slides and even Deep Research reports into engaging, podcast-style audio discussions. Gemini will create a podcast style discussion between two AI hosts who, with just a click, launch into a lively deep-dive conversation based on your uploaded files. They'll summarize the material, draw connections between topics, engage in a dynamic back-and-forth and provide unique perspectives.
Audio Overview enhances learning in a fun and productive way. You can upload class notes, research papers, lengthy email threads or reports generated by Deep Research and receive an Audio Overview to help summarize your files while you’re on the go.
Say you want to learn what I have written in a post. Let's pick one of the more recent posts on EFE.
Here's the process you need to follow:
Create a PDF of the blogpost
Download PDF onto your computer
Go to gemini.google.com (you will need to subscribe!)
Upload the PDF
Select the little pop-up button that says "Generate podcast".
What can you use this for?
Upload PDF's shared by your prof that you need to read
Upload PPT's that you need an audio overview of before tackling the content in depth
Summarize lengthy email conversations, meeting notes, hell, WhatsApp conversations, if you like.
How can this be made better?
Indian accents (this is just a matter of time), and Indian languages (ditto)
The ability to ask questions of the "hosts" (this is already available on NotebookLM, will come to Gemini soon enough)
Change the length, the nature of discourse, make it a panel discussion
Add multiple files, not just one
Focus on specific parts of the PDF, not the entire thing
Generate a series of separate episodes, not just the single one (A separate podcast for each chapter in a book, for example)
Specify the intended audience (age, level of expertise, background)
Have the podcast "hosts" generate a viva/quiz for you
Have the Learning Management System (LMS) that will eventually incorporate podcast generation mark an assignment as complete only after you do well enough on the quiz generated in pt. 8?
Create a meta podcast across all generated podcasts for a cohort, mapping out the best questions, and the best covnersations, and include that podcast in the syllabus?
